Tuppies!!

My, how the time just flies! they are getting so big and growing so fast. They are also becoming more work and eating a lot of formula! I have been trying to encourage them in branching out to puppy food, but they are having a difficult time believing that it is food. I guess it's not instant enough gratification. They have mastered drinking their milk out of a pan as opposed to using the bottle, which is good for me because it is less time consuming, however, they apparently drink best when they are immersed in the milk, which makes it messy and hard for everyone to eat at the same time. There are so many reasons why 12 is too many!

Holly Holly Hot Tamale

Napping with her daddy! She is four months already, my how the time just flies! She loves lindsay's dog ford the best. He is the only one who will play with her and thinks she is fun. Lucky for her we have been taking care of ford for lindsay during the week while she works. They have a new house in bellingham with a yard, but it's not fenced yet, so in the interim ford stays here during the week. But thats just fine with holly! Besides whats one more dog, after 10 who even counts anymore.

Apparently not...

Well, it was worth a shot. although I wasn't comfortable going to bed even that first night with them seperated. I was afraid she would pretend she just had six puppies! Who could blame her really. I am still feeding puppies but only four times a day right now, and they all seem to be doing pretty well, so far so good. Two weeks down six to go. This coming week the puppies will be getting wormed and getting their toe nails trimmed for the first time. Good times ahead..Not much else new to report, everyone is well and just busy as usual, and looking forward to getting two days off of school! Yay for the presidents!!

Can this work?

I have decided it's time for suzy and her brood to move to stage 2, the laundry room. She was naturally horrified at first but seems to have come around. I am hoping that she will spend time in each crate feeding the puppies. Ok so maybe I am crazy and hoping for the unrealistic, after all she is used to feeding them in groups...right? well, its worth a shot. She has gone into each crate, however she does favor the one shes in right now. It was worth a try.

Week one, down

Well we have all survived the first week of puppy land. The pups are officially one week old (as of friday) they have had their tails and dew claws done, are doing great with the bottle, can all get out of the box on their own and cry even louder than before. They are all growing and Suzy is doing much better, she seems much happier and spends a lot more time away from them now. Which is probobly why she seems happier. I thought this would be a great time to put them all together for a family shot, hopefully I will be able to tell them apart to put them back in their original groups! Suzy is pretty sure she fits just fine in their little bed, and crams herself in there whether there are any pups in there or not!

Winter Ball 07

Ok, as suggested by cathi, she thought everyone might like to see how beautiful kelsey looked for her winter ball last week. She and her friend Brianna went together with an escort (Otis) I know a little weird, but he kept a good eye on them, and intimidated any possible interested boys. The girls had a blast and got a couple of great pictures. By the way Otis wore his carharts and a tie! I think it was a good idea to break up my puppy posts with a picture of a human puppy!

An Even Dozen!

It's hard to believe still! None of us can believe she had that many, it's crazy! Especially Suzy, she is still exhausted, actually we all are. I have divided the itter into two groups of 6, and they rotate every two hours between being with Suzy and being bottle fed. They are getting the hang of it but we are all going to be very tired by the end of the first two weeks. All together we have seven girls and five boys, a big change from the norm for us. Usually we have tons of boys and only one or two girls. We have two tris, three fawn colored and the rest are sable. They visit the vet on monday to have their tails and dew claws done. He'll also take a look at Suzy to make sure she seems ok. Dave got her some baby vitamins with iron, so we have been poking that down her little gullet along with Pedialyte to help with nutrition and to keep her from getting more drawn looking.Twelve puppies is a lot for a relatively small dog like Suzy, I dont know what she was thinking! We will keep everyone updated with pictures as they grow and change.
